Since the Great Recession, private investor funding has been hard to find for small businesses. As the economy starts to recover, angel investor funding may be becoming a little more available, but small businesses have to have an air-tight business plan and be in a potentially high-growth industry to attract their interest.
Angel investors often can provide second-round funding for small businesses. After the owner's initial investment and any funds from friends and family, angel investors are the next logical step if the business can't or doesn't want to secure debt financing or if the firm can't secure enough financing through a business loan.
