Definition: investors who usually provide the second round of financing to a business firm. investors who provide equity financing to a business firm in return for an ownership interest. These investors usually provide financing in return for the potential for a high return, usually greater than 25%, and they often want some control or advisory role in the management of the business firm.

Ms. Martin was able to secure $100,000 in angel investor funds for her start-up business.
